The Department of Pediatrics' Division of Pediatric Palliative Care at Emory University in Atlanta in conjunction with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, is seeking to hire an Inpatient Palliative Care (Pediatric Advanced Care Team - PACT) Psychologist.

This academically-appointed position will report to the Division Chief of Pediatric Palliative Care and the Medical Psychology Program Manager within the Center for Behavioral and Mental Health Center, and serve as a critical member of the growing and respected PACT team in this large pediatric healthcare system.

PACT serves children with all types of serious medical illnesses including cardiac, neurologic, oncologic and genetic conditions, organ transplant recipients, and patients who are technology-dependent in all inpatient services areas of Children's.

Successful candidates should demonstrate competency in psychology and good interpersonal skills, allowing for productive interactions with other providers, bedside nurses, creative arts therapists, child life specialists, chaplains, and caregivers. The ability to function within an interdisciplinary team is paramount, as this psychologist will work with PACT physicians, nurse practitioners, and social workers.

PACT patients needing enhanced psychological support will be identified by the palliative care team, seen by the inpatient psychologist, and followed outpatient by the PACT psychologist upon discharge as needed. Outpatient appointments will be in-person or via telehealth.

Specific clinical training and skills related to the assessment and intervention of psychosocial needs associated with medical conditions and in particular, serious illness, are necessary.

Experience managing patients with total pain (physical, psychologic, spiritual, and social), psychologic distress secondary to complex, chronic illness, and/or experience with management of grief, bereavement, and end-of-life care are ideal qualifications.

These full-time positions are split between clinical care and administrative time.

Flexibility to work at Egleston & Scottish Rite campuses is important.

Psychology applicants should have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA/CPA accredited program, have completed an APA accredited child internship, and must obtain board certification within hospital timelines.

The BMH therapist should be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Applicants must have expertise in assessing & treating children and adolescents using evidence-based approaches. Applicants should be licensed/ licensed-eligible in GA prior to employment.
